Our Evaluation Process
For each Bitcoin jackpot slot machine that we review, we use a specific checklist with six different categories to score each slot machine. Each of these categories is scored out of 10, and the weights for each of those categories are shown below the review. The final score for each slot is the weighted average of those scores.
All slot machine testing is performed with real money at real casinos. We do not test for jackpot features and functionality using demo money or software.
The Six Scoring Categories
1. Jackpot Mechanics (30%)
This is the most important category for jackpot-focused players. We look at:
- Jackpot trigger mechanismThe trigger for the jackpot prize. Was it random, did it occur during a bonus round, or was the jackpot linked to the size of the player's bet?
- Jackpot odds disclosureIf the slot game discloses the odds of winning the jackpot, or if those odds can easily be estimated from the data that is available about the game.
- Max-bet requirementIf the slot game requires players to make a max bet to be eligible for the jackpot prize, and at what bet level the jackpot can be won.
- Jackpot seed valueThe starting value of the jackpot prize, after a player has won the prize and the value of the jackpot has been depleted.
- Progressive vs fixed jackpotWhether the jackpot prize is a progressive jackpot (increases with time) or whether it is a fixed (non-growing) jackpot prize.
- Historical win frequencyThe win frequency rates of the slot game's payouts, if available from the manufacturer.
2. RTP & Variance (20%)
The return to player (RTP) percentage for the slot game. For jackpot games, the RTP will include the jackpot prize itself, which only pays out to the player that won the game. The base game RTP and the jackpot RTP can both be noted here. Furthermore, the variance of the slot game can be described in this category.
3. Base Gameplay & Features (20%)
We play each slot machine for at least 200 spins, and a minimum of 100 spins on slots with a high minimum betting amount. During this playthrough, we measure the frequency with which the bonus round is triggered, the prize won during the bonus round, the quality of the symbols in the bonus round, the quality of the animations and sounds used during the bonus round, and whether the base game of the slot machine is entertaining to play.
4. Casino Availability & Versions (15%)
Due to the fact that some slot games have different versions within different casinos, we will specify which versions of the slot game that we have tested. Furthermore, we will list all Bitcoin casinos that offer this slot game.
5. Bitcoin Compatibility (10%)
The confirmation of BTC deposits and winnings, the minimum BTC stake required to win the jackpot, the currency in which the jackpot is displayed, and the time required for BTC jackpot winnings to be confirmed and received in the player's cryptocurrency wallet.
6. Provability & Fairness (5%)
For provably fair slot games, the implementation of the provably fair software is tested. For slots based on a random number generator (RNG), the licensing of the software is checked by the issuing authority (for example, Malta MGA, Curacao, or UKGC). Any red flags regarding fair play will be noted in the review.

Casino Review Criteria
In our casino-specific recommendations, we also evaluate the platform hosting the slot. Casino criteria include:
- Licensing and regulationThe licensing and regulatory status of the software and the issuing authority of the license, and whether the license is currently active.
- Bitcoin withdrawal speedThe speed at which casinos pay out winnings in BTC to players, with a target of under 30 minutes to payout.
- Jackpot payout historyThe history of the payouts of jackpots from the slot game, especially any incidents of the casinos failing to pay jackpots to winning players.
- Bonus wagering requirementsAny wagering requirements on bonuses on the slot game that may prevent players from being able to play for the jackpot prize.
- KYC policies for large winsThe casinos' KYC (know your customer) policies regarding large jackpot prizes payouts to players.
- Independent user reviewsThe slot game's user reviews on independent and trustworthy gambling-related forums, such as Reddit's r/gambling and AskGamblers.
Our Limitations
We're transparent about what we can't verify:
- Because we do not have the tools or rights to independently audit the source code of the RNG software for slot games that are not provably fair, we are reliant upon third-party audits of that software.
- Because we cannot independently audit the source code of the slot games that are not provably fair, we have to rely upon the return to player (RTP) percentages that are published by the developers of those slot games.
- The frequency with which jackpots are won by players is sampled from win report data that is published by the slot game developers.
- The reliability of the casinos can change over time. Thus, when we hear of any new information regarding reliability of a casino, we will update their slot game reviews to reflect that new information.
If you find any errors in one of our reviews or that the information contained within is outdated, please contact us. We read each message and will update the review as necessary.
Update Schedule
On each review page, you will find a timestamp that indicates the date upon which the review was last updated. All major slot game reviews will be reviewed at least every six months, or if any significant changes to the slot game occur.
